Organic Waste Treated
The transport, treatment and recycling of waste is an ongoing concern. The challenge today is to do it in a way that is socially acceptable, economically viable and that ensures environmental sustainability.
GSI is committed to helping municipalities and the business community divert organic waste from landfills and incineration. We treat a wide variety of organic waste generated by agriculture and food producers, and the pulp and paper industries, as well as municipalities and households.
Treatment Processes
GSI relies on many treatment processes for organic waste. We work together with our clients to find the right treatment process to suit their specific requirements or needs.
We currently process organic waste through composting at our eight Quebec-based composting and storage facilities, dehydration and granulation, co-generation plants as well as through direct land application.
Beneficial Product Application
In addition to providing innovative solutions for the reduction of waste generation and waste diversion from landfills, GSI's commitment is to the beneficial reuse of processed and treated organic wastes - compost. Our compost is used in a wide variety of applications including horticultural products for gardening and landscaping, site remediation, agricultural land application, erosion control and alternate daily cover for landfills.
Horticultural Products
Focused on beneficial reuse, GSI's treatment of organic waste produces high quality finished compost that is sold in bulk and bagged format for horticultural and landscaping uses. The bulk soils produced and wide selection of indoor and outdoor gardening products have earned us the highest marks from the landscape architecture community, plant producers and green space maintenance experts.
